The question isn't so much that, as it is the *distinct* and *total*
lack of context and information that you have not bothered to supply
us with. A ".img" file is meaningless in Linux. Files are not
dependant on extensions in this way. File types are determined by
'magic', something that I am not going to cover here.

You really do need to think about what it is your asking, and the
