It's not the distros, it's their kernels - if some nonstandard patch
in Fedora's custom 2.6.5 kernel
is responsible, then the issue can be reported and I can try something
else. The bad memory
was a fluke, but despite my continued issues I don't want to just say
"it's bad hardware" and
condemn myself to Windows XP forever (or go research Linux
compatibility for a new laptop).
