At this point, it's a broader issue than that - it involves the X
subsystem being fragile in the current config. I've downloaded the
relevant DEBs to rebuild it from scratch (I may or may not have fast
access when this happens), which I suspect will become necessary after
the next update involving any part of X.
libxt6_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
x-window-system-core_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
xfree86-common_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_all.deb
xlibmesa-dri_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
xlibmesa-gl_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
xlibmesa-glu_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
xlibs_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_all.deb
xserver-common_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-4_i386.deb
This should probably do the job. The only thing I need to hold onto is
my carefully-crufted XFree86Config-4, and I've got that backed up.
