The author of this tip said there was no way of upgrading the whole
thing apart from picking each package individually via YaST.
Actually, you can. Follow the directions given in the October
tip for adding the installation source, but use the 'System Update'
command to update. By default this will use the information you provided
with regards to the higher-level definition... the part where you could select
'Default System', 'Minimal System', etc. to update all packages,
including the new KDE packages you specified as your new
available installation source. Again, you have the option of
deselecting and customizing, but if you installed with
'Default System' (for example) and do this, you'll get
the 'Default System' with the upgraded KDE packages.
I mention the part about the higher-level install types because
if you stated out with Default System and REMOVED some packages,
doing the 'System Update' will put the packages back on (unless
manually deselected).
