One question I forgot to include in my 1st reply: if SPF does see wide
spread adoption in the ISP community, for those of us who don't have a
registered domain, what sort of impact might we expect in sending mail?
In the past in I've had to adapt to changes at my ISP by switching between
running my own mail server and using theirs as a relay.
I assume that if SPF is implemented at the ISP, it will block / filter
port 25, and I will no longer be able to have an MTA local to my LAN serve
to send my mail; at least not without an explicit arrangement with the ISP
to allow outgoing traffic on port 25. Am I correct? Would it then
necessitate getting a domain or otherwise make a significant impact if I
were to do so?
