You do have a number of choices here. 

These include:
  1 Use ssh instead of rsh
  2 Use sudo to allow a non root user to run the omniback program as root
  3 Make Omniback suid root (probably not a good idea)

I'm sure that's not an exhaustive list of choices and you'll need some more 
detail, but you should be able to find what you need in the documentation.
