I *do* understand that.  And, as I stated in the 1st msg where I mentioned 
it, I *mounted* (a Netware) filesystem under Linux which had been created 
on a Novell server, in order to do a conversion away from Novell.  I did 
error slightly in that msg however, by referring to it simply as 'ncp'. 
I'm still unsure of just how it's referenced.  The kernel cfg help file 
states it as:

NCP file system support (to mount NetWare volumes) CONFIG_NCP_FS
