That's because it's an interesting question, regardless of whether it's
homework.

And what's this about article rubbish, Thomas?  Do I have to slap you
upside the head?  It *would* be an interesting article if someone wanted
to research when the mtime is changed, and comment on different ways for
an observer process to know when a file has finished being modified.  I
guess it's the "former editor" part of me coming out, always encouraging
new articles.
