Yeah, what he said. But also of use, J.Bakshi, is for you to notice that
you appear to be forewarding questions you've already sent to a LUG (in
this case, ilug-cal.org), and you haven't trimmed off the bits that
aren't of any use to TAG, including your duplicated ascii-art signature.
 My suggestion, change your .sig to something like "Debian Rocks!!!" and
perhaps put your full name there, or something to indicate it's a
*signature*, instead of just a waste of space.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to add to your original question either.
Thomas wants to know if you've looked at your /var/log/XFree86.log.0,
and I want to know what *does* happen when you type 'startx'. You've
said that it doesn't provide the correct resolution. To me that implies
that it does provide some other resolution. Is this the case, or does it
just fail? If it just fails, the log will be very helpful (Especially
lines that have EE in them). If it doesn't, but it puts up some other
resolution, then you should document that to us, along with parsed-out
bits of the log file that seem pertinent.
