Could be. The funny part was that once I reinstalled I didn't get the 
same problems even though I did a apt-get dist-upgrade again.

True. I like KDE though, Tried Gnome a while ago and really didn't like 
its layout. Also tried some other VM's but I guess I like my eye candy 
'cause I keep coming back to KDE.
