sir,
there are few problem that are faced by me in configuring my nis client
maybe I missed something .I am describing my problem in little detail so
please get me some solution ;if there is something i missed please make it
clear as far as possible in regards practical details.
I have created a nis client by the following procedure in our local intranet
(i) in /etc/init.d/network file i added line --> domainname mnnit.cc.net
(ii) in /etc/yp.conf file i added --> domain mnnit.cc.net server
172.31.104.11 #172......11 is our ypserver
(iii)in /etc/hosts file i added this ip 104.11 as gomti.mnnt.cc.net # gomti
is name of this ypserver
in the configuration of the server i added my domain name mnnit.cc.net along
with my ip add. in the lists of known computers. started ypbind service on
my client and it succesfully shows my ypservername gomti.mnnit.cc.net.
command($ ypcat hosts )on the server shows our domainname with ip as well
.everything seems to bo OK but here the problematics come.
I have some user accounts on the server gomti.mnnit.cc.net and that i want
to access from my domain.
i have configured the server by entry in /etc/exports of server like
gomti:/home *(rw)
gomti:/etc *(ro)
and then i added lines in my /etc/fstab like
gomti:/home /mnt/home nfs defaults,bg 0 0
gomti:/etc /mnt/etc nfs defaults 0 0
the accounts on the server are so made that they want /home/.../theirhome to
logg on otherwise they are loged on the / directory
one way that i achieved this by makin a shortcut /home that links to the
folder /mnt/home and then logged on the computer as some of the user
accounts that were on the server but hte problem is that the links don't
works properly so everything go slow is there anything that i can do
besides doing this fuzzy logic to do nfs thing.
