Wow, some people have used quite a few. I'm planning to make a chart
of this, grouped by distro type (DEB-based, RPM-based, TAR-based,
ports-based [user-compiled]), but I don't know what type several of
these are.
== DEB
Debian
(K)Ubuntu
Knoppix
Storm (Stormix)
Kanotix
Progeny
== RPM
Red Hat/Fedora (all versions)
SuSE
Mandriva/Mandrake/Conectiva
Caldera
Yellow Dog
Corel
== ports (user-compiled)
Gentoo
FreeBSD
OpenBSD
NetBSD
386BSD
Linux from Scratch (but it doesn't have a ports system?)
== TAR
Slackware
== preinstalled only?
Linspire/Lindows
== ???
CentOS
DamnSmallLinux
Feather
Kurumin
Morphix
Gnoppix (this is Knoppix with a Gnome default?)
IMPI
Skolelinux
Flonix
Scientific Linux
MEPIS
Xandros
Libranet
Stampede
TurboLinux (didn't it originally have another name, High something?)
Zen Linux (I thought this was UML/VMWare-like software, not a distro)
LinuxPPC
Linux Router Project
HAL91
LTSP
Tiny Linux
Auditor
Pentoo
WBEL
Yggdrasil
Sun Linux Desktop
Sharp Zaurus
Sourcerer
Puppy
DSL (I take it this is not "digital subscriber line"?)
Coyote
CRUX
Arch
I'm curious about all these, but my focus is mainly on current
distributions with a reasonably large following (those querents are
likely to try), and with a "normal" package system. (I.e., I don't
know if Lycoris & Lindows are set up for adding packages after buying
it preinstalled, and the Zaurus must be too small for traditional
packages).
