What about using ''traceroute'' instead?  What's your network topology like? 
Are you using a gateway (perhaps some form of NAT?)  Do you handle your own
DNS?  You need to be much more thorough in the information you detail to us.

You're not *telling* us what's in the logs, for starters.   We're not mind
readers -- and knowing what's in this file, might just help provide pointers
as to its solution.
