Asx/asf is Windows Media video/audio stream,AFAIK[*],and mms is "Unicast
stream that is accessed from a publishing point on a Windows Media server".
There is a program that can record these,but only http streaming flavor.[1]
Other than mplayer,VLC and xine can play/record mms streams,but it's maybe a bit overkill.
